Business Software Lab
Instructor assisted self-paced, independent learning in a lab setting. Primary focus is Microsoft Office 2007. Other applications may be available. Certificate programs are currently available for beginning level Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Lab is open entry/open exit. Enrollment does not guarantee a seat. Seats are filled first come/first served.
Career Explorations Workshop
This workshop will help you determine your career interest areas utilizing several different assessments and online research time to allow you investigate a number of career ideas. You will also visit websites to gather labor market information and utilize tools to aid in locating employers. The Career Exploration workshop is offered in a two-day format, or a four-evening format. Please check the calendar for more information.
This two-day workshop will provide detailed information on questions to use when researching companies, interview strategies and mistakes to avoid before, during and after interviews. The class will also provide opportunities to informally practice answering questions. This is a two-day workshop and the first day will be valuable preparation for day two.
Job Search Foundations
This one day, three-hour workshop will help prepare you for seeking employment. Learn about the effects of job loss that can delay transition back into the workforce, common fears and important things to remember as you move forward. Learn how to take inventory of your qualifications and summarize your skills, knowledge and traits to help in networking and interviewing.
This one day, three-hour workshop will cover mistakes to avoid and valuable formatting guidelines. Students will view sample résumés and participate in group critiquing of samples. Class also includes a brief discussion of cover letters, file type issues along with emailing and uploading of résumés. There will be an opportunity provided to schedule a future critique after completing the class. Appointments will be dependent on each week’s class schedule.
Social Media for the Job Seeker
This class is designed to give you an overview of a variety of social media tools, and how they can help you in your job search. Come learn how to use social media such as: Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook more effectively in your quest.
